It’s 2025, which means I’m all about trying new things! I always thought oats were meant to be sweet, but recently I’ve been making them savory and YUM 🤤
Oats are a regular staple in my diet, so finding different ways to prepare them is a game changer! These whole grains are particularly helpful for heart health because of a specific type of fiber they have called beta-glucans. They play a major role in reducing your cholesterol, so if you’re looking for an inexpensive, tasty, and effective way to reduce your cholesterol, oats are your answer!

Looking to try something different this summer? Try out a plant-forward spin on your traditional barbacoa using eggplants and mushrooms!
Eggplant and mushrooms are not only delicious but also packed with health benefits! Eggplants are bursting with fiber, vitamins, and antioxidants that keep your heart happy and your digestion smooth. Mushrooms, on the other hand, are little powerhouses of B vitamins, selenium, and potassium, plus they give your immune system a boost, making for both a delicious and healthier alternative to your typical taco this summer 😋

Nourishing our bodies fuels our minds 🧠 💪🏻 Eating regular meals and snacks that are balanced and diverse can help manage our mood during the day and feed our gut, which can impact our mental health too!
To support your mental health with the right foods, try pairing protein with carbohydrates (especially whole grains whenever you can) and making fruits and veggies the center of your plate.
When it comes to snacking, try pairing protein with some fiber for sustained energy that keeps you going for the day.
Eating right is just one of the many ways to support mental health! What do you do to support your mental health?

Happy Registered Dietitian Day!!! 🫐🫛🧀🥪🌮🍅
Taking a moment to look back on all of the cool things I get to do in my role as a Wellness Manager.
My favorite part about my role today is having the chance to connect with guests and provide nutrition education in a multitude of ways, while also getting the chance to work along side some seriously talented chefs that teach me something new everyday and help elevate my knowledge as a dietitian from a culinary perspective. And they’re pretty fun to work with 😎
Make sure to wish your RD friends a very happy RD Day! ❤️

Embracing American Heart Month with a splash of red today ❤️ ✨ Today is Wear Red Day, and I’m celebrating with a heart-healthy smoothie that includes a secret heart-healthy ingredient…white beans!
These little gems not only add creaminess to any smoothie but also pack a powerful punch in the health department. Regularly indulging in legumes like beans can be a game-changer in reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease. Aim for at least 1/2 a cup or more daily to reap the benefits! ✨
Plus, adding beans to your smoothie is a cheaper, easier way to sneak some extra protein and fiber into your diet 😉❤️

UHG Friends- stop by your coffee shop tomorrow morning to get your free serving of overnight oats to celebrate National Oatmeal Month!
Oats are the perfect start to any day! Because of their fiber content, they digest more slowly which means you stay fuller for longer. They specifically contain the fiber beta-glucan, which could help boost your immune system and gut health!
Stop by the coffee shop in the morning on January 9th to start your day off right ☀️

❗️IT’S CHEF APPRECIATION WEEK❗️
I love my job because of these people! They are some of the most kind, goofiest, hardest working people I know, and they make it fun to come to work. I consistently sign these chefs up for events and projects, and they always find a way to make it work (and they do it with a smile, too 🙃)
Make sure you thank your chefs this week for going above and beyond. These guys are the greatest!

July is all about eating local! Eating local offers benefits to you, the planet, and your community. Here’s why:
1. The average food travels approximately 1,500 miles to our plates, consuming a great deal of energy and producing carbon emissions. Local produce doesn’t have far to travel meaning less carbon emissions.
2. Eating local supports local farmers and producers which contributes to your community’s livelihood and creates a sustainable agricultural system in your community.
3. You want to eat produce closest to when it is picked at peak ripeness since that is when it has the most nutrients. Because local produce doesn’t have to travel far to get to you, you’re eating it closer to peak ripeness and getting more nutrients.
4. Working with produce that’s local and in season might inspire you to try something new! Like a fresh raspberry cake or tacos using oyster mushrooms as a meat substitute 😊
Check out a local farmer’s market near you to see what’s in season!
